The most common type of resume is the chronological resume.
This format clearly presents an exhaustive description of your work history and is the design most often seen by decision makers. As the name suggests, a combined or hybrid resume combines chronological and functional resume formats. Infographic resumes use layout, color, design, format, icons, graphics, and font style to present their information. While they can be visually appealing, the biggest disadvantage of infographic resumes is that many Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS) cannot correctly read the content of their resume accurately, making them practically useless for evaluation.
A mini resume is a brief summary of the highlights and qualifications of your career. Mini-resumes are known to fit on a business card or postcard and are easier to read than a full resume while providing more information than a business card. A profile resume describes a resume that uses a resume profile, more commonly known as a resume summary or professional summary, rather than an objective statement. This format works well if you haven't changed jobs very often and can stay with 2 or 3 organizations at most as it shows well your growth, your career path and your upward progression.
Personalized resumes are increasingly popular with the increase in the number of resumes companies receive. While it takes more time and effort to write a personalized resume than a generic resume, it's definitely worth the effort. Finally, you can take your current resume (regardless of the type) and include keywords from the job description in your resume and cover letter.
